United Through Reading is excited to share that we have received a proclamation by the San Diego County Board of Supervisors naming November 15th “United Through Reading Day” throughout San Diego County! The proclamation presented to UTR at a ceremony on Tuesday, November 15, 2016, by Supervisor Greg Cox, commends UTR for our outstanding service, leadership, and commitment to the men and women of our military.

“We are so honored to be recognized by the San Diego County Board of Supervisors for our mission and service to military families,” says United Through Reading CEO Sally Zoll Ed.D. “This is a great commendation to our Board of Trustees, benefactors, volunteers, and staff from across the nation whose tireless support helps to unite service members and their families worldwide.”

In 2015 alone, UTR served nearly 100,000 beneficiaries at 262 recording locations around the world and distributed more than 10,000 books to military children. For more than 27 years, United Through Reading has served active duty military and their loved ones by connecting them through video recordings and the read-aloud experience, promoting childhood literacy among the military community, and making homecomings easier for service members and their families. The San Diego community has been fundamental to the growth of the UTR program, and we are grateful to them for their acknowledgment and support.
