United Through Reading Honors Congresswoman Susan Davis (CA-53) and Carter’s Charitable Foundation at 8th Annual Storybook Ball in Coronado on November 12

San Diego (November 8, 2016) – This Saturday, Nov. 12, United Through Reading will celebrate 27 years of service to military families at the 8th annual Storybook Ball in Coronado. The annual gala, now in its eighth year, will host United Through Reading supporters from across the nation, including business and military leaders, elected officials, corporations, and others, to celebrate the organization’s support of U.S. service members and their families through the read-aloud experience.

“The annual Storybook Ball gives us the opportunity to recognize and thank the many volunteers, organizations, and individual benefactors without whom the work we do at United Through Reading would not be possible,” says Dr. Sally Ann Zoll, CEO of United Through Reading. “It is a special occasion that brings together those who support our military service members and their families, and we look forward to celebrating UTR’s achievements and progress with them.”

During the gala, United Through Reading will honor NBC 7 San Diego and Carter’s Charitable Foundation for their support of United Through Reading commitment to military families and children. The Storybook Ball will also present an award to Congresswoman Susan Davis (CA-53) for her support of the local military community.

Attendees will hear keynote remarks from United Through Reading supporter, Navy Vice Admiral Michael Shoemaker, as well as beneficiaries Captain Maureen Fox, USN, and her daughter Grace, Captain Caleb Eames, USMC, and his wife Monette, and Lieutenant Matthew Stroup, USN, and his wife, Jenny-Lynne.

With long time UTR supporter and title sponsor BAE Systems, Inc., and major corporate sponsorship from Ausgar Technologies, Inc., Cobham, and others, United Through Reading’s gala attracts supporters in both San Diego and across the nation, to celebrate millions of shared bedtime stories and raise funds to continue the mission started more than 27 years ago. The cocktail reception and silent auction begin at 5:30 p.m., and the live auction and program begin at 7 p.m.
