Join our volunteer team and help support military families right in your own community. We offer meaningful ways to get involved in several key areas, but our needs are always evolving and so will the volunteer opportunities.

Volunteer Opportunity Descriptions
1. Event Volunteer
Represent United Through Reading at events on military installations and/or in the community. Volunteers share information about our program with military families and may assist service members and Veterans as they make video recordings and select books for the children who will receive them. Specific responsibilities vary depending on the event.
2. Recording Site Coordinator
Support the creation and operation of United Through Reading recording sites, where service members and Veterans can record storytime videos. Volunteers may help set up the site, promote its availability, and assist participants during recording sessions as needed. *Due to military ID requirements, this opportunity is for service members, Veterans, and those who work with them.
3. Social Media Ambassador
Help spread the word about United Through Reading by sharing on your personal social media channels. Ambassadors receive prepackaged posts through #UTRambassador emails, along with training and guidelines for creating engaging content that inspires others to support our mission.
4. Fundraiser or Virtual Book Drive Host
Keep military families connected through reading by hosting a fundraiser or virtual book drive in support of United Through Reading. Your efforts help provide books and resources that strengthen the bonds between service members, Veterans, and the important children in their lives.
5. Storybank Recorder
Using the United Through Reading App, service members and Veterans can record themselves reading a book and share their video with United Through Reading. Selected recordings may be featured as Spotlight Videos for all app users or shared with educators nationwide as part of our Veterans Day Initiative.
