National Volunteer Week 2015: Letter from Sally Ann Zoll

April 13, 2015

To our United Through Reading volunteers,

This week is National Volunteer Week, an opportunity for organizations around the world to pause and recognize the importance of the selfless contributions of volunteers. We want to take this chance to tell you, our wonderful United Through Reading volunteers how much we appreciate all of the good work you do for us.Volunteer 1

To our fantastic volunteers, on behalf of United Through Reading, our Board of Trustees, the Senior Leadership Council and our staff, thank you, thank you, thank you for your passionate and dedicated service to our military men and women and their families through your support of United Through Reading, helping them stay connected through the simple act of reading aloud together.

We’re taking this opportunity, National Volunteer Week, to say thank you, but we want you to know that we think of you every day with gratitude. Thank you for the contribution you make to United Through Reading throughout the year. We just couldn’t do it without you.Volunteer 2

In 2014, more than 500 volunteers gave their time and expertise to promote the read-aloud experience and maintain the connection between military families who are apart. Our volunteers in the field, our Active Duty and Site Coordinators and their teams made more than 25,000 video recordings, reaching more than 100,000 service members and their loved ones. Our Program Advocates and Homefront Coordinators attended events and briefings, gave speeches, conducted program training, assisted with promotion, and provided many other means of support which added up to innumerable bedtime stories for military families around the world.

Thank you.  We are humbled by your support and passion for United Through Reading and military families.

With gratitude,

Sally Ann Zoll, Ed. D.
Chief Executive Officer
