PRIVACY POLICY

United Through Reading has created this privacy policy to demonstrate our firm commitment to your privacy. United Through Reading will not collect personally identifiable information from you — name, address, email address or telephone number — without the express consent of the individual(s) as provided on the forms used by United Through Reading. Providing such information is strictly voluntary. Donors may contact United Through Reading at any time to review personal information collected and request corrections.

United Through Reading values our relationships with our donors, volunteers, beneficiaries, and constituents and believe it is important to uphold certain standards around the information provided to us. This policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect this information. We’ve adopted this policy to codify this commitment. This privacy policy is effective as of September 2017. As United Through Reading alters its services, this policy may change. All changes will be posted on this page.

Your privacy is important to us. To better protect your privacy we provide this notice explaining our privacy of information practices and the choices you can make about the way your information is collected and used.

The Information We Collect

This notice applies to all information collected or submitted on the United Through Reading website. On some pages, you can submit survey information, make requests, and register to receive materials. The types of personal information collected from these pages may include: name, address, email address, and phone number.

How You Can Access or Correct Your Information

You can access your personally identifiable information that we collect online and maintain by sending an email to us at info@utr.org. We use this procedure to better safeguard your information. You can correct factual errors in your personally identifiable information by sending us a request that corrects the error. To protect your privacy and security, we will also take reasonable steps to verify your identity before making corrections.

The Way We Use/Share Information

To complete your request and fulfill program information. We use the information you provide about yourself to complete your request of us, or in the case of surveys from program participants, to add to our data about specific program elements. We use non-identifying and aggregate information to better design our website. For example, by using web site statistics we can determine which pages are most important to our visitors and then expand those pages or make them easier to find.

When you share your email with us, you will be signed up for UTR email communications, but will be given the opportunity to opt out at any time. You can also register on our website to receive our email communications and information about our special events. We will provide an opportunity to remove your name from the email registration list with each message we send.

We do not share your information. We do not share your personal information with outside parties except to the extent necessary to complete your request. We use return email addresses to answer the email we receive. Such addresses are not used for any other purpose and are not shared with outside parties. Your registration information is not shared with outside parties. We will not sell or exchange your personal information including your name, mailing or e-mail addresses, phone numbers, or web addresses.

Financial Information

United Through Reading takes every effort to protect all donor information. All donation and payment links on this site direct the user to a secure online payment system powered by Classy. All financial information given directly to United Through Reading via mail, email, fax, or phone, containing banking or credit card information is maintained in compliance with applicable laws and industry standards.

United Through Reading will not sell or share a donor’s personal information to any other entity without the donor’s permission. Records of all private gifts, grants, pledges and expectancies to United Through Reading are maintained by United Through Reading accounting. It is the responsibility of those who keep and use these records to protect the privacy of donors to the fullest extent possible, except when the donor’s approval has been secured to announce a gift or donation publicly or when required by legal subpoena.

United Through Reading uses appropriate physical, electronic, and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the information we collect online.

Our Commitment to Children’s Privacy

Protecting the privacy of children is especially important. For that reason, we do not knowingly collect or maintain information from children under the age of 13.

Social Media Information

Social media information includes visual and text content which you choose to share using your own personal social media pages. The content, videos, and photographs shared on the United Through Reading Facebook page or by tagging United Through Reading, such as when you post a status update, upload a photo, or comment on our Page, are considered public information. The same is true of content, videos, and photos shared with United Through Reading and the public on Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, Pinterest and LinkedIn. Your name, gender, and usernames included when content is shared on social media will also be treated as public information. If you do not wish content to be shared by United Through Reading, please do not post to UTR’s social media sites or tag United Through Reading on your social media accounts.

Public Information on Social Media

Public information refers to information you choose to make public, as well as information that is always publicly available including your name, gender and social media usernames. Choosing to make your information public also means this information can be associated with you (i.e., your name, profile pictures, cover photos, timeline, user ID, username, etc.) even off-line in a platform other than Facebook, Twitter or other social media accounts.

Social Media Comments Policy

United Through Reading welcomes communications from our advocates, participants, donors, and fans on our social media sites, blogs and public forums. Our goal is to help nurture a community which supports military families and literacy initiatives. United Through Reading reserves the right to review all comments and reserves the right to remove any comments it deems to be inappropriate, offensive, defamatory and/or made for commercial purposes. United Through Reading does not agree with or endorse every comment/opinion or individual’s or organization’s post on our pages.

Although posted comments may include links providing direct access to other Internet resources, including websites, United Through Reading has not participated in the development of those other sites and does not exert any editorial or other control over those sites. United Through Reading is not responsible for the accuracy or content of information contained in these sites.
