Off The Beaten Path Road Show Hits the Road in September!

September 7, 2022

United Through Reading’s Off the Beaten Path” Road Show is about to hit the road! The Mobile Story Station will travel 1200 miles with stops at five military installations throughout California and Nevada, beginning September 19, 2022.

The Road Show is “Off the Beaten Path” because the Mobile Story Station is traveling places it’s never been before, including its first ever visit to a Space Force Base.

Here’s a rundown of the “Off the Beaten Path” Road Show stops:

9.19 Nellis Air Force Base, Las Vegas, NV

9.20 Creech Air Force Base, Indian Springs, NV

9.21 Marine Corps Logistics Base Barstow, Barstow, CA

9.23 Naval Base Ventura County, Point Mugu, CA

9.24 Vandenburg Space Force Base, Vandenburg City, CA

The journey is designed for United Through Reading to visit military families and spread the word about our free program. The Mobile Story Station allows service members to sit back, relax with a book, and make video recordings of themselves reading for their loved ones.

Erica Oswalt, Program Manager, Air Force and Air Force Spouse along with Penney Letrud-Samons, Program Coordinator, Mobile Story Station, and Navy West, and Navy spouse will be road tripping with 750 books to give out. Letrud-Samons says, “we are so excited to go off the beaten path! The best part of a trip like this is to see how excited kids are to get brand new books. We can see them reading them in the car as they drive away!”

Stay tuned to United Through Reading social media platforms to follow along on the journey and for more information on when and where to see us!

The Road Show is made possible by Carter’s Charitable Foundation and the USS Midway Foundation.
