Read Across America with United Through Reading

February 27, 2018

Would you read to your children in a house with a mouse or in a box with a fox? What about reading here, there, or anywhere? March 2nd, Dr. Seuss’ birthday, is a great day to be on your way!

Join United Through Reading with your favorite Dr. Seuss book or costume as we kick off Read Across America and National Reading Month! UTR is proud to work with National Education Association (NEA) to celebrate and bring awareness to children’s literacy through this exciting month of celebration.

Read Across America was first celebrated on March 2, 1998 by NEA in an effort to get kids excited about reading. Today, Read Across America has become an annual reading motivation and awareness program that is celebrated in communities across the nation.

UTR shares this passion to promote literacy, focusing specifically on military children. While UTR is active in these efforts throughout the year, this month is especially important. At several of our worldwide locations, service members will have the opportunity to be video recorded reading a Dr. Seuss book while wearing the famous red and white striped hat from The Cat in the Hat.

We encourage all service members to seize this opportunity and get excited about Reading Across America with their kids.

Read on to find out how you can get involved!

Thanks for Reading Across America with us!
