Bethe Almeras is the Director of Communications and Marketing and United Through Reading’s lead storyteller, brand steward, and enthusiastic champion of the UTR llama. An award‑winning writer, web producer, and eLearning designer, Bethe brings nearly 30 years of nonprofit expertise to the organization. She has held leadership roles at the National Wildlife Federation, SHAPE America, the National Education Association, and FHI 360, and has consulted for organizations including KaBOOM, SC Johnson, and the National Association of Corporate Directors.

A passionate advocate for public education, strong communities, and healthy, joyful childhoods, Bethe’s mission‑driven heart has shaped her career. She is also a longtime animal advocate, shelter volunteer, and cat foster who falls in love with every critter she meets. A lifelong reader, Bethe still believes getting lost in a book is one of life’s greatest gifts. Childhood favorites included Stuart Little, Charlotte’s Web, and Harry the Dirty Dog. Today she gravitates toward twisty thrillers—though she proudly names John Irving as her all‑time favorite writer. Contact her at bethealmeras@utr.org.
