United Through Reading’s 7th Annual Storybook Ball

The 2015 Storybook Ball was a smashing success! United Through Reading was able to net over $100,000 to continue connecting military families by encouraging service members all over the world to pick up a book and read to the children they love.

We welcomed over 230 guests to the Coronado Island Marriott including keynote speaker SgtMaj. Bryan Battaglia, USMC, Senior Enlisted Advisor to the Chairman, Joint Chiefs of Staff, and RADM Joe Campbell, USN (Ret), Vice President and General Manager of Ship Repair for our Title Sponsor, BAE Systems. During the gala, United Through Reading honored SDG&E for their support of United Through Reading and our active military and veterans, as well as Carol Raiter, the inaugural Chair of the Storybook Ball. In addition, we welcomed special guest Dr. John Y. Cole from the Center for the Book in the Library of Congress to help celebrate our recently awarded American Prize from the Library of Congress Literacy Awards.
