Storytime with a Service Member

Celebrate Veterans Day with Storytime and Connection!

This Veterans Day, bring your classroom a meaningful storytime experience that connects students with the brave men and women who serve and continue to serve our country.

United Through Reading’s Storytime with a Service Member invites teachers, homeschoolers, librarians, and community educators to share stories recorded by veterans and service members from across the branches of the U.S. military. It’s a powerful way for military-connected students and staff to feel seen — and for everyone to better understand military service.

Since launching in 2022, more than 3,500 classrooms from preschool through high school have joined us to celebrate our veterans and the joy of reading, service, and connection.

"My third-grade class and I from Wilder Elementary School in Sumter, South Carolina, wanted to thank you for the wonderful book read aloud to us by Master Chief Jason Knupp. It was amazing and my students were delighted! It really made my lessons on Veterans Day and our armed forces so much more meaningful!"
